David - Really appreciate you taking the time to articulate your plans for your new gig. It's helpful to hear how other orgs navigate data infrastructure decisions. We never stop making architectural decisions, rather only take momentary pauses to catch a rest as data tech constantly evolves.
Totally agree, I feel like every part in the stack should have a challenger at least once a year as things are moving so fast. Less so when it's open source/low TCO, but anything expensive needs to be the best solution at the time within reason.
